Writing
Accessibility on the MSRC sites
The Gold Cup service shipped labels, keyboard access, and contrast that held in production.
The public sites I owned for Microsoft Security Response Center had to work for everyone who used them. I use a screen reader every day, so this was not an abstract requirement to me.
I shipped labels on every control, keyboard access to everything a mouse could reach, and color contrast that held in both light and dark schemes. Then I kept it that way, by treating accessibility as part of the definition of done instead of a pass at the end.
The service won the Microsoft Accessibility Gold Cup. What I care about more is that it held after launch, when new pages and new engineers arrived.
